A series of suspicious events that took place during the same time as the bulk of these 1989-1992 sightings has led many to infer that the Werewolf sightings may be related to a series of cults that are thought to reside in the surrounding areas. Just the summer before the wolf creature had been reported in 1990, a dozen or so animals had been dumped in a ditch along nearby Willow Road, an officer from the area stated that he believed that the animals had been used in cult rituals. According to the same officer, some of the animals had ropes tied around their back legs and their throats were slit, some were decapitated and others were dismembered in various ways. The most recently killed animals were dogs which had had their chest cavities split open and their hearts removed. The officer had also begun to receive reports of mysterious people pretending to be animal control officers trying to round up stray dogs. One incident involved a man in a black uniform who tried to pressure a child who was home alone into giving up his black Labrador Retriever. Along with all this there were reports of occult graffiti being found in an abandoned house and at the local cemetery, where many graves were found to be covered in candle wax. These events led many to wonder whether or not the Bray Road werewolf was is some way connected to the recent resurgence in satanic activity.
