It is a well-known fact that most cultures have at one time or another harbored legends regarding a half-man, half-wolf creature. However as time went on these legends became more and more associated with specific areas of the world, like Eastern Europe for example. Yet there is a werewolf legend that is alive and well here in America. That legend has become known to many as the Bray Road werewolf and finds its home in Walworth County, Wisconsin. Despite numerous eye witnesses and undeniable evidence of occult activity many offer alternate explanations as to the maintenance of the legend.
This county in southern Wisconsin encompasses the towns of Delavan, Jefferson, Fort Atkinson, and Lake Genevea which have all encountered sightings of an unknown creature with the majority of the occurrences occurring around the area of Bray Road and Highway 11. You may think Bray Road is some lonely, godforsaken country lane, like something out of H.P. Lovecraft. The truth is, Bray road is a very ordinary rural road. The sightings of this creature range from the 1930s to the early 1990s, however there is an unusual aspect to these sightings, which seems to divide them, which is that in the ones prior to 1989, the beasts seemed to be more like a Bigfoot than a werewolf and the ones that are from 1989 to the present appear to be more definitely canine.
Even when all the sightings have been analyzed the actual explanation of what this creature really is and where it came from still alludes all those involved, and in the end maybe its better that way. For, in this world where so much has been rationalized we need something that still possesses its mystique. So, if you find yourself at the intersection of Bray Road and Highway 11 late at night, and you happen to catch a glimpse of a dark shape crouching on the edge of the woods don’t stop for a closer look, because some mysteries are better left unsolved.
I will post descriptions of actual sightings in separate threads as to avoid overloading a single thread.
